Never TRUST your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to check your internet speed.

"Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach that person to use the Internet and they won’t bother you for weeks."

  • When ever your INTERNET speed is slow you would call your INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER (ISP): He will ask you to get connected to his server to check your speed. For sure it will show you the accurate speed, but you are sure that the speed is slow. In this Session I will teach you how to check your INTERNET SPEED USING THIRD PARTY SERVER.

  • Be sure to inform you ISP (Internet Service Provider) that you don’t want to connect through there server. Be very precise and tell them that you want to connect through a third party server.

The best third party server, which I have ever come across, is speedtest.net. Just type in speedtest.net in you web browser and a screen will appear as shown bellow.

As I live in India it is showing me the city where I live in India. If you are in other country it will show your country map with your city. Just click on your city. You will get a screen as the bellow picture.

Here you can see that my download speed is 0.54MB, to know you internet speed you need to multiply it with 8. 1 Mb is = 1024 kb so we need to multiply it with 0.54*1024, So its 552.96KBPS. Hence my internet seed is 432KBPS. At times there would be a variation of 15 to 20 %., depending on the traffic.
